Sponsor My Run

February * March * April * May * June * July * August * September * October * October 28th, MARATHON DAY

26.2 Miles is not really that far . . . .  At least not with the National AIDS Marathon Training Program.
Who am I kidding.  That's a really long way

September 1st - 10 miles - piece of cake. It is fun to be a point where a 10 mile run is a baby run. As I get ready in the morning, I think "oh, it's just 2 hours".

This month promises to be nearly as busy as the last two. Mac resumes teaching writing workshops. I must find a job. If you have looked at my training schedule, you know that this month I have 23 and 26 mile runs scheduled.

I also need to finish up my fundraising for the marathon. If you haven't donated yet, please do. If you have, thanks again (see the hall of shoes). I will be holding a yard sale at Antiques on the Hill near eastern market on September 22. E-mail me if you can help out or donate "junk" to sell.

September 23, 2001 - 5K - A couple AIDS marathoners and I ran Zack's Run in College Park Maryland. They put on a good race. Very family friendly (Thank heaven's we finally passed that 5 year old . . . phew). We went really easy right at marathon pace but had a good time. The folks I ran Zack's Run with were concerned about going to fast. I will run the Race for the Cure in Baltimore with my father in October. I am looking forward to actually racing it.!

Septmember 30, 2001 - 26.2 miles - I thought it would never end! For the long traing runs, we are instructed to run 2 miles per minute slower than our planned marathon pace. It took me 6 hours and 45 minutes and I was no where near last!

We ran on the toe path in Georgetown. Because of the threat of WTO Protests in DC, our normal running site near the mall on Saturday was cancelled. I wasn't used to the pitch of the trail and my knee hated it.

It was, however, gourgeious! We ran to Great Falls National Park in MD. EEK! There was one point where we had to scramble over boulders on the trail. Still, it was a nice choice for the 26 miler.
