July/August kind of kicked my butt -- not the running, I'm sort of
in a running grove. August was just insanely busy. Mac didn't didn't
teach any writing workshops (www.dcwritersway.org)
in August but had three readings on Friday and Saturday evenings. On
the 18th, I ran 20 miles and that evening took photos at Mac's reading
for the web site. Between wrapping up my work at PIRG and having a social
engagement every time I turned around, I was wiped out.
I spent the last two weeks of August sort of recovering. (I left my
job on the 13th and began using up some vacation time.) I did all the
projects I have been meaning to do for ages. I cleaned out the house
and created large piles of stuff to get rid of. I weeded the garden
and planted some early fall vegetables. It was very relaxing and I got
a lot of exercise.
I also did some job hunting. However, Congress is on recess during
August so nearly everyone who works for environmental advocacy organizations
in DC goes on vacation. I spent the time going through the "What
Color Is Your Parachute?" book and doing all the quizzes. It's
pretty helpful. I rewrote my resume you can see both here: new
resume, old resume.
